I think I did it subconsciously, but I forgot to add “get
furniture” to my list of steps to get the basement done. I didn’t want to think
about furnishing an empty basement, even to the point of already being done and
then getting surprised by a delivery call this morning saying they were on
their way. Whoops. That’s what happens when the wife is the one getting the
email notices.
This actually wasn’t a big step, we ended up only taking two
trips to visit two stores each time so maybe it’s not such a big deal it slipped
my mind. And I thought we ended up with something really cool; the only
downside is that it got delivered while the fence people were here and I was trying
to put up molding (more on that later), which meant there was something to work
around.
Have you ever tried to furniture shop with two kids under 4?
Actually, good luck doing any kind of shopping with our two kids. But I can’t
really DIY a 6-piece modular sofa. At least not yet. But two days of shopping
isn’t terrible, and this thing looks comfy. Thankfully the work down here is
almost done, and having a couch in the space makes it feel that much closer. At
least I had a spot to sit down when I needed a break.
Why is this photo so dark? B/c the fence people accidentally cut a power line this morning, and when the power came back on a fucking fuse blew. So now I'm waiting for an electrician too. |
We got this from Macy’s, where we got our last couch and
chair, and thank god I did this renovation on my own, b/c there goes all the
money we saved by my doing this myself. Woof. Hopefully we still have some tv
funds left! As long as we get one by football season we’ll be in good shape.
