Putting the "labor" in Labor Day

I must have heard that Ace commercial 1000 times this week listening to the radio at work. So by the time the weekend rolled around I was more than ready to get some work done around the house before people came over to watch the ND opener.

What’s on the agenda? How about quarter round trim around the basement to cover the floor gaps. How about cutting the bubbles off the ceiling and getting a coat of primer on to blend it in. How about exploring tile options for the fireplace…yeah, I think that’s enough for a day or two and then settling into a nice long weekend of grilling and drinking.
You're damn right I made sure these weren't going anywhere.
Of course it helps when you actually buy enough trim to cover every wall.

I keep saying I’m done in the basement only to come back with another piece, and the quarter rounds were just more of this. But there were still several gaps between the laminate and the initial trim which the quarter rounds covered, so now when it's finished it really will look like a finished project. I threw in an extra piece by the garage door (I didn’t even mess with that wall!) so no more floor gaps. I am tired of caulking things.
Yuck.
Not quite so 'yuck'
But yeah, there was something seriously wrong with my math and I didn't buy enough trim to finish. Which is causing me headaches, b/c what I got was on sale at Lowes, and seems to be rapidly disappearing from local stock. I've got a pick-up order in for more but we'll see if it gets filled...

Sigh. With those two projects closer to done I feel ready to spend the rest of the weekend watching football, but I keep hearing the fireplace calling me after spending so much time down there already. So now I’ve got a bug, and a few weeks to research renovating the fireplace before I have my two weeks off at Christmas. Ah the possibilities…
