Whew!
Between writing a strategy document/presentation at work and the first chapter of a dissertation for school, November really got away from me this year. So I haven't had much time to work on anything, but I did make sure to grab a travel cocktail kit to make sure I had something to drink over Thanksgiving.
There's no shame in needing an extra drink or two over the holidays, and I've traveled enough to know that I want to have a specific kind of drink at the end of a long day. So I was optimistic a travel old fashioned kit would help alleviate that feeling. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't as good as home either.
I ended up cramming two kits worth of supplies into one tin, just in case. I was glad I did b/c I got a little more mileage out of them this way. Re-using a glass that somehow found its way to the room after the bar helped too.
For some reason, they came with cane sugar vs regular or super fine. Cane is good for coffee, not so much for cocktails.
But the bitters were fine, and the spoon is handy, so my happiness at using the kit outweighed being annoyed by the kind of sugar. And besides, it's easy enough to grab some of the coffee supplies to supplement the drink.
I would recommend them, if only to make traveling a little more pleasant.
